Step 1:
State problem in own words:
Question:
You have just purchased your dream car, that has a fuel tank capacity of 10.8 gallons. You are so happy because your vehicle is gas efficient and gives you 40 miles per gallon. This is your first time filling up at the gas station. As you are about to fill up you remember that you had 1/8 of the gasoline left in your car. You noticed gas is expensive at $4.21 per gallon. You start pumping and the price meter starts at $0.0 increasing rapidly as gas is pumped into your car.
At what rate is the price increasing by?
In order to fill up the tank, how much do you have to pay?
My words:
If you have 1/8 of gas in your tank that can fit 10.8 gallons with 40mpg and if gas costs $4.21 a gallon how much will you have to pay? How much is the price increasing by?

Step 2:
-Describe what you did in attempting to solve the problem
-Include things that didn't work or seemed like a waste of time
What I did first is calculate how much of the gas tank was empty, and that was 7/8 because it was 1/8 full. And then I took 7/8 of 10.8 gallons because thats how much capacity the gas tank had. I ended up getting 9.45, then I took that and multiplied it times the price of gas per gallon ($4.21). That got me to the answer of $39.79.
The price was increasing by $4.21/1 Gallon. That answer was in the problem.
I didn't really try anything that didn't work. For me I understood the problem right away and got right to it. Again it was straight forward and I understood it well.

Step 3:
-State solution
-How did you know the solution was complete or correct?
My solutions were $39.79 and $4.21 per Gallon. I knew it was correct because I checked over all my steps and I never messed up. I also checked in with my contemporaries and my teacher.

Step 4: Extension/Reflection
-Did you consider it educationally worthwhile?
-What did you learn from it?
-Did you enjoy working on it?
-Was it too hard or too easy?
I did think it was worth while educationally because although I understood the problem it was challenging. It had to do with the rate of change (Slope) which is the part of the homework for this week. There was a lot of work involved and I am glad that I did not mess up throughout the process. I learned how math can be used in the real world. Having a car is a necessity when having a job, which I plan to have when I'm an adult. I enjoyed working on it because I did not need any help I got the answer on my own by evaluating the problem and rewriting it in my own words. It made me feel confident in evaluating problems. It wasn't too hard or too easy, it was perfectly challenging.

Grade I give myself:
I would give myself a 15/15, even though I did the write up a little last minute I feel that the reflection really showed my learning experience/process.
