How can we share our VR worlds at the Maker Faire on Dec 3? Be specific. How will you succinctly describe the process of developing VR content? How will a passerby experience our VR worlds? What can a participant take away from our booth that would help them develop their own VR content? How will you communicate the bigger picture issues you investigated? E.g., what is reality? How do we develop/recognize biases?
I think we just need to have a system where people have a timed schedule so that they don't get bored at the different booths. I will do my best to describe the project from beginning until end, I will talk about the whole process, including the job fair and the whole idea of actually getting paid. I will show how we all contributed to the different producers and will show the different projects I helped produce. I hope that what they can take away is that our school is hands on and they always let us have freedom, I also want them to know how our school is preparing us for the real world with the whole check and bank aspect of the project. I didn't really ever find trouble differentiating reality and virtual reality. To me, virtual reality is always going to require a headset and it will never be real.
Provide a brief summary of Dewey’s ideas. Where in the VR project do you see Dewey’s ideas being implemented? Where could they be better implemented?
Dewey very much would agree with the way we teach at our school. He very much values hands on learning and having the kids experience something for themselves instead of all just learning the same thing. They were definitely implemented for the project because we had to learn everything for our selves and we experienced the project in the way that we chose. I think they could be better implemented if we got together first and came up with a vr idea together and all contributed to one and if we all weren't stressed about budget and income.
Provide a brief summary of Pink’s argument about motivation. What would this look like in the school setting?
Pink argues that money does not effect the outcome of a deep thinking problem. He states that money motivates people for small mechanical tasks but anything beyond that it actually makes them do worse. The school setting needs this so that people are not driven by a reward but take pride in their work for themselves.
